How Omingle works

Omingle pairs you with a random stranger for a one-on-one conversation, in text or on video. Here is everything you need to get started, plus a few tips to make your chats better and safer.

Start a chat in four steps

  1. 1

Open Omingle and confirm you are 18+

Go to omingle.chat in any modern browser. Tick the box confirming you are 18 or older and agree to the Terms. There is no account to create.

  2. 2

    Pick Text, Video or Companion

Use the switch on the start card. Text is chat only, Video adds your camera and microphone, and Companion lets you pick an AI chat partner.

  3. 3

Add a name and interests (optional)

Type a display name if you want one, and add up to five interest tags like music, gaming or cricket. Omingle tries to match you with someone who shares a tag.

  4. 4

    Start chatting

Press Start. When you are matched you will see your partner's name, or "Stranger". Say hi, and use Next whenever you want someone new.

Text chat

Text chat is the low-pressure option: no camera, no microphone, and you can think before you reply. Messages appear instantly and are not stored once they are delivered. When you first connect, a few suggested openers appear. Tap one to break the ice, or type your own.

If nobody real is available after about 15 seconds, you may be connected to an Omingle Companion, an AI chat partner, while we keep looking. The chat is labeled, and you will be offered a switch as soon as a real person is free.

Video chat

When you choose Video, your browser asks for camera and microphone permission. Tap Allow. Once you are matched, your partner fills the screen and your own video sits in a small window you can drag to any corner or minimize.

Use the Mic and Camera buttons to mute yourself or turn your video off at any time. The Chat button opens a text panel so you can type during the call. On a phone, the controls hide after a few seconds for a full-screen view. Tap the video to bring them back, swipe left for the next person, or swipe right to go home.

Interests: meet people like you

Interest tags are the easiest way to have better conversations. Add up to five tags, such as a hobby, a show, a sport or a language. Omingle first looks for someone who shares at least one tag. If nobody does within about 10 seconds, it matches you with whoever has been waiting longest, so you are never stuck.

A tip: tags in your language, like "hindi", "urdu" or "español", are a simple way to meet people who speak it.

Omingle Companions

Omingle Companions are AI chat partners with their own personalities, from deep late-night talkers to study buddies. Pick one from the Companion tab when you want someone to talk to straight away. Companion chats are always labeled, and the companion will tell you it is AI if you ask.

Next, Stop and Report

Next ends the chat and finds someone new. Stop ends the chat without searching again. Report flags the person, ends the chat, and feeds our automatic ban system. Choose the most accurate reason: nudity, harassment, spam, appears to be a minor, or other.

If something isn't working

No camera or mic? Check your browser allowed access. If you tapped "Block", re-enable it in the site settings (the icon next to the address bar) and reload. Close other apps that might be using the camera.

Black or frozen video? Usually a network issue. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or use the text panel.

Opened from Instagram or TikTok? Their built-in browsers often block the camera. Use the menu to open the page in Chrome or Safari.

Tips for great conversations

Skip the plain "hi" and open with a question, like where they are chatting from or the best thing that happened to them today. Share something about yourself too. And keep your personal details private: no full name, school, workplace or social handles with someone you just met.
