Pakistan is one of the most active countries on random chat sites, especially late at night. Students in Lahore hostels, people in Karachi after work, someone in Islamabad who can't sleep. If you're on these sites, you've probably matched with plenty of them.
But random chat in Pakistan comes with its own challenges: language, patchy mobile internet, and some very specific scams. Here's how to get the good side of it without the bad.
Why random chat is popular in Pakistan
A huge young population plus cheap mobile internet is a big part of it. But there's also something simpler. Random chat is one of the few places you can have a relaxed conversation with someone completely outside your circle, without anyone from home knowing about it.
People use it to practice English before interviews, to meet people from other countries, to pass time on a quiet night, or just because they're bored. All normal reasons.
How to find people who speak Urdu
The most common frustration: you want an easy chat in Urdu or Roman Urdu, and you keep getting matched with people who only speak Spanish.
Two fixes. Use a site with a language or country filter. Camsurf has free country and language filters, for example. Or use interest tags, which many sites support. Tags like "urdu", "pakistan", "cricket", "lahore" or "karachi" pull you toward people with a similar background.
On Omingle, our own site, there's no country filter, but interest tags work exactly this way. Add "urdu" or "cricket" and you'll be paired with someone who added the same tag first, if anyone's online.
Then open in the language you want. "Assalam o alaikum, kahan se ho?" gets a very different reaction from a Pakistani stranger than a plain "hi."
Dealing with slow internet
Video chat needs a steady connection, and mobile data in Pakistan can be unreliable depending on your area and network. If video keeps freezing or staying black, try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Some networks make the direct connections that video chat uses harder.
Video also uses a lot of data, often hundreds of MB an hour. On a limited package, use text chat. It uses almost nothing and works even on weak signals, and most sites have it. Omingle, for example, has a text-only mode. Skipping apps helps too, since browser-based sites don't run in the background. Our guide to random chat without downloading an app covers camera permissions and data saving in detail.
The blackmail scam you need to know about
This is the most important section. Online blackmail is a serious problem in Pakistan, and in October 2026 the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) publicly warned about fake profiles of women being used to trap people.
It usually goes like this. Someone with an attractive profile, often a fake or a pre-recorded video, gets friendly and flirty very fast. They push you to move to WhatsApp, then to a video call, then to do something on camera. The call gets recorded, and the threats begin: pay, or the video goes to your family.
How to protect yourself:
- Never do anything on camera you'd be upset to see shared. Assume every call can be recorded.
- Don't give your WhatsApp number, Instagram or Facebook to someone you just met. These link straight to your family and friends.
- Be very suspicious of anyone who gets romantic within minutes. That's the script.
- Never send money, Easypaisa or JazzCash transfers, or mobile load to a stranger, for any reason.
If it happens to you, don't pay. Paying almost never ends it, and they come back for more. Take screenshots, save usernames and numbers, block them, and report it to the NCCIA helpline 1799. You can also call police helpline 15, which now forwards cybercrime complaints to NCCIA. Reporting is the right move, and you're not the one in trouble.

Good etiquette goes a long way
The fastest way to get skipped is opening with "are you a girl?" or asking for someone's number in the first minute. Say salam, ask where they're chatting from, and actually listen.
Respect goes both ways. You'll meet people from every province and every country, with different languages, accents and humour. Curiosity works much better than judgment. If you're stuck after "hi," try a few of our conversation starters that actually get replies.
Is it legal?
Chatting with other adults isn't illegal. But Pakistan's cybercrime law, PECA, treats sharing obscene material, harassment, blackmail and anything involving minors very seriously. Stick to 18+ sites, keep it clean, and report anyone who crosses the line.
Random video chat can be a great way to meet people from across Pakistan and the world. Keep your identity private, watch for the blackmail script, and you'll have far more good chats than bad ones. Chatting from across the border? We wrote a similar guide for random video chat in India.
